Absolute masterpiece. I just found the first part on the piano...without papers. What an effort!!!! The Sandman part is 7/8 and not so fast with a beat in 4/4 in the middle.

LOL!...tks Rael..just tried counting it ...and i'm even more confused!..DOH!...I'm thinking it maybe is 7/8 but at quite a rapid tempo!
It's such a brilliant bit of drumming there!...(it's that section that starts at 4:50 if anyone else wants to have a go!)

Was it summer when the river ran dry,
Or was it just another dam.
When the evil of a snowflake in June
Could still be a source of relief.
O how I love you, I once cried long ago,
But I was the one who decided to go.
To search beyond the final crest,
Though I'd heard it said just birds could dwell
so high.

nah you're thinking of "entanglred", but she did do a lot of paintings based on their lyrics, in fact she published a whole book of them back in 1978 or thereabouts, x

my favourite post-Gabriel Genesis song of all time...from the best post-Gabriel album...! although I recently discovered Tony Banks wrote it, along with the title track "A Trick of the Tail", way back in the early days?!
Whatever, it's a beautiful song, and takes me way back to when I first became obsesed with Genesis, thanks... |
