Jazz was never locked into a single form, style or era. It is eternally morphing as one player takes what he hears, decontructs it, then reassembles the music to his own perception. I revel in the endless variations musicians apply to songs, melodys and rhythms. Wynton is truely a genious applying his deep personal experience living and growing up in New Orleans, the city where jazz originated, to the Bourbon Street Parade.

I'm not sure you can call it being corrupted. I mean even Jazz from the 30s is very different from what was being played in the 20s. Also Jazz has never been something that is clearcut and texbook-defined. Instead of clinging to the past I think it's more exciting to see where new artists are trying to take jazz, No?

That's the problem with jazz now. It's so pigeon-holed. I make my living playing jazz music of the 1920s and this bears no resemblance to that music. It's corrupting people's perception of what that music is all about.
