Being a Soccer player, I can tell you that the term 'Futbol' is more internationally recognized for obvious reasons. 1. Here in the USA we already have 'Football' (as you already pointed out), but since other countries do not - the term 'Futbol' is more easily adpated. I still play the beautiful game with a co-ed team here in Minneapolis, and we have a guy from the UK on our team. I'll ask him this Sunday, and get back to you.
