when I first heard this song it was a cover song that was played on 94.7 the wave by some band I dont know who they are, but until I heard the original I knew it was played by only a great man as Herbie Hancock.

Maybe because I listen thru studio monitors hooked up to my computer, but this is as far from elevator music as you can get. Metheny's guitar synth tone is unique and his phrasing is sublime. I'm sure that tone would have been fantastic heard live.
