Not on the Avet Reels their drags are strong enough not to.

but allso it gives good gribe on the line when you have a big fish and thats how you put the line on the reel and not make a big ball in the reel

actuly it really depends you need to know what your doing if u dont you can snap the line or slit your thumb pretty bad
