I concede. Went and looked up the link you referred. Saw the same scenes. That effectively proves this video a hoax. Thanks for setting me straight.

I am not saying they are human targets. Only that there is sufficient evidence to suggest that what is seen IS consistent with what one should expect to see if they were human targets. Furthermore, it seems that some the targets, as presented in this video, are much larger than a little "rock chuck". That's all.

You are correct on the definition of AP. That was my misnomer. There is a 50 cal round, however, which IS spiked with HE. The charge is composition A. "Muzzle energy" is an esoteric description of "kinetic energy", as measured at the muzzle. I am not confused as to its definition. The ballistic coefficient of a 750 grain 50 cal spitzer is ~ 1.01. Knowing that, retained energy @ 1000 yrds is straightforward. That figure is 6000ft lbs. That is 6 times the "muzzle energy" of a 5.56 round.

Acoustic Saloon - AP rounds don't contain HE and don't blow up. They use a hardened metal jacket - some have a hard dense metal core to achieve penetration on armour. API rds penetrate thin armour and contain a core that blows and burns after penetration of eg. fuel tanks. Don't confuse muzzle energy, kinetic energy, or watermelons with terminal ballistics on human beings. BTW, they are gophers (rock chucks) not people being shot on this video pirated from Rocky Mt. Varmit hunters website.

the newtons law is right. but u wrong... u know why cuz the 50 cal is havey and the weigh stops most of the power of the gun.. and it got stands. if u wanna talk about send me a message

srry i dont think there is any way this video is real becasue of newtons law. every action has an EQUAL and oppisite reaction so tell me do u think the person firing the gun can take that much kick. And yes i know it's a 50 cal there bodies are fling some where near 50 yards

For those who want to know the truth about those videos, look for YouTube user DaveAffleck they are his videos. Or go to RVMH . Com click on "Scenes" Under "Varmint Safari II previews" click on "Rock Chucks" and watch the same clips, in slightly higher quality, without the flash compression. As much as I would like them to be Taliban/Al Queda, they are not, they are Yellow Bellied Marmots, AKA Rock Chucks, sort of a big Prairie Dog that lives in the mountains.

in one of the sceens you can see an arm flying off into the air. I think these are people.
AcousticSaloon (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
And yes, I did the math. This, however, does not mean, for sure, they are human targets. BUT, the last scene in this vid did not look like a goat to me.

Couple things. A 700 grain projectile, leaving the muzzle @ 3000 ft/sec will hit a target 1000 yrds downrange @ 2000 ft/sec. B.C. ~ 1.01 At that velocity, kinetic energy = 6400 ft lbs. 1000 ft lbs will liquefy a watermelon. Now, put an armor piercing round in the chamber. Projectile expansion no longer an issue. 6000 ft lbs kinetic energy augmented by detonation of projectile within target. That may effectively double energy delivery on target to 12,000 ft lbs. Those ain't woodchucks dude.
