There was an old political party in the US called the "Whig" Party. Whig stood for With hope in God. I dunno if that's what the Afghan Whigs meant with their title. I also heard a rumor that the Afghan Whigs were named after a biker gang from Florida. I don't know how true that is though.

Afghan Whigs never got the proper accolades as some of the other Alternative Rock back in the late 80's inot the mid 90's but Greg Dulli and crew still kicked ass regardless!!!
