no way, byrne was really into 'period' sounds at this time. No doubt they all had fun, but this had eno's influence too. The whole EP this song was on was about 15 years too early to be appreciated. Real synergy there, 'throw that beat' (in the garbage can) shows how they put themselve into the music without taking it too serious.
I'd never vote for byrne for anything but a musician, but he is pretty good at that.

Well, like the guy said, he's no student of ancient culture...but he sure can dance. Besides, maybe they were goofing on David Byrne, who produced the album. He's a bit of an 'intellectual' (psuedo?) and maybe the B's were just havin' some fun with him.
