BackwardzButtercup, my guess is since Rare (company that developed the game) are based in the UK, and I believe it is used more socially there and isn't as rude or offensive as in the US, so they probably didn't think much of using it.
I could be wrong though as I am basing this on what us Australians are like and assuming the UK is similiar.
