To be more accurate, Islam says not to destroy Christian and Jewish religious buildings (so Muslims decided to build on top of them or turn them into Islamic religious buildings, like they built the Al Aqsa mosque on the ancient ruins of Soloman's temple, and turned the Greek orthodox mega cathedral Hagia Sofia into a mosque)... idols, and other pagan buildings are fair game. I can't lie and say your religion is rainbows and candy canes just to be nice. It would be unjust.
