It's the wind. if the bridge were underwater then it would be the waves. Keep in mind the constructive wave length has to be constant for this to happen. Just unlucky that the wind was constant

I'm surprised it even took an hour. Probably due to it being steel, but man...imagine the tension that wave was exerting on those bars!

Read the comment above ^. It works because it was long enough that the bridge had a wave length and resonance can be a devastating attribute of wave lengths.

I can explain. It's an resonance. So what happens is that the wave length of the bridge was exactly complimentary to that of the gale. Rather I should say it the other way around because the wind can change. Thats why it's important that he said the wind was steady. So what happens is that the complimentary waves build on each other which if I remember correctly squares the crests(the top of the wavelength) so this keeps happening so it keeps getting bigger and bigger, and bam!

ok so i beleivie that this is real but why would a bridge that weight a million ton collapse i know why this happend it happend because gale cause this to happen
