if you're saying Alanis' caterwauling sounds similar to Joni's singing, then your "musical ear" seems a lot LESS in tune than most people's. not really much more to say on that.

Alanis is alright sometimes but she sounds nothing like Joni Mitchell. The only similarity is they're both Canadian and Alanis also throws her voice around sometimes like early Joni era. Joni's lyrics are honest in a deeper way than just the messy heart-on-sleeve of Alanis. If you want to find other pop artists with the same risks ambitions in their music as Joni, in the '80s you could say Kate Bush or Grace Jones, in the '90s/'00s definitely Bjork. However this does not mean they sound alike.

The first time I head this song was the cover by Tori Amos (which I absolutely love) Since then I looked into the original singer and listened a couple of times, but it's been a while and I forgot how amazing this is! 3

My sister made me listen to this song when I was 14 years old...I've been hooked to Joni ever since. The best part about her music, is that she can capture a sense of humanity, which allows every person to relate in some way or another. A TRUE ARTIST! Thank you Joni!
